The Government of Nova Scotia has announced the addition of 200 nursing seats at four postsecondary institutions. The seats will be funded through an investment of $3.2M, which will grow to $6.8M a year once all the spaces are settled. 120 practical nursing seats will be added to Nova Scotia Community College’s program. 80 bachelor of science, nursing seats will also be added at universities in the province: Dalhousie University and St Francis Xavier University will receive 26 seats each, while Cape Breton University will receive 28 seats. NS has also announced that the 25 seats in Dal’s nurse practitioner program that were temporarily added in 2018 will receive $500K annually in permanent funding.
