NS announces that BEd students will temporarily be allowed to work as substitute teachers

The Government of Nova Scotia has announced that bachelor of education students in their final year of study will temporarily be allowed to work as substitute teachers. Students will be able to receive a temporary teacher’s license, and their substitute work will be supervised by their university advisor. The move will help increase the number of substitute teachers in NS and give students the opportunity to gain experience while completing their studies. “Our teacher education candidates continue to adapt to the pandemic; they are ready to meet this most recent challenge and are eager to accept this professional responsibility,” said St Francis Xavier University Dean of Education Lace Marie Brogden.
