ON nursing programs receive record applications for Fall semester

In a recent article for the Toronto Star, Jordan Omstead reports that some Ontario nursing programs have received record applications. The Council of Ontario Universities reports that the number of applicants to university nursing programs in 2022 has increased by 25% compared to 2018 and 2019. Similarly, Colleges Ontario says that colleges have also seen a 25% increase compared to 2018. While this increase is notable, Omstead writes that there remain several complex barriers to the nursing shortage, particularly a lack of clinical placements due to staffing shortages.
