SFU-based BC agritech innovation centre announced

The Government of British Columbia has announced a new BC Centre for Agritech Innovation, which will be housed at and led by Simon Fraser University. The centre will bring researchers, government, and industry partners together to develop agricultural technology for use in British Columbia and around the world. This technology will support food security efforts and lead to increased production of food within the province which will lower transportation costs. The centre will involve partners such as the University of the Fraser Valley, Thompson Rivers University, the University of Northern British Columbia, and the University of Victoria. The centre has received pledges of over $16.5M in combined funding from BC and the Government of Canada’s Pacific Economic Development Canada.
