Staff and faculty at Red Deer Polytechnic are reportedly preparing to potentially go on strike as contract negotiations continue. “There are three collective bargaining units at Red Deer Polytechnic, and we are currently in negotiations with all three,” said Mara-Lee Moroz, Executive Director, People and Culture at RDP. CUPE Local 1445, which represents 100 staff at the institution, and Faculty Association of Red Deer Polytechnic (FARDP), which represents 350 instructors and librarians, have reportedly both been without a new contract since 2019. CUPE has applied for and received an exemption from being essential services which is a necessary step before a strike. rdnewsNOW says that AUPE, which represents 250 support staff, is not as close to job action, but has been without a contract since mid-2020 and negotiations could head toward a strike. rdnewsNOW Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
