As St Patrick’s Day approaches, Kingston police have announced that they will increase their staffing levels in the University District community and will not impose mandatory court appearances on those who receive fines for nuisance parties. A statement from the Kingston police noted that “since history remains the best predictor for the future, we have upstaffed in preparation of the date and police in attendance will be enforcing all available levels of the law.” Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson explained that the police would “be using immediate on-the-spot fines that we’ve used throughout the pandemic, hopefully transitioning back to the court system in the fall.” Global News Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
