StatCan report discusses characteristics of postsecondary graduates who received CERB

Statistics Canada has released a report on postsecondary graduates of 2010 to 2018 who received CERB payments in 2020. The report found that those who graduated more recently were more likely to have used CERB. There were also notable differences between subgroups when comparing findings across genders, program areas, and credential types. For example, those studying in visual and performing arts and communications technologies at both levels were most likely to receive CERB likely due to COVID-19’s impact on the culture, arts, entertainment, and recreation sector, while those who graduated from programs in mathematics, computer, and information sciences were least likely to receive CERB, possibly because these programs led to jobs that would allow them to work from home.
