TMU announces new team name, mascot

Toronto Metropolitan University has announced its new team name TMU Bold and has changed its team mascot to a falcon. TMU chose the name based on community feedback and noted that it reflects confidence and the university’s values and aspirations. The falcon was also chosen based on community feedback, and reflects boldness, critical thinking, and strength. “Boldness is a core value of our university,” said TMU President Mohamed Lachemi. “It is shared by our students, reflected in our approach to learning and research, and demonstrated on the court, the field, and the rink by our athletes.” The mascot also has local significance, as falcons nest on rooftops at the campus, and their gold beaks and near-blue feathers match TMU’s brand colours.
