The University of British Columbia Okanagan’s Student Development & Advising department has compiled a comprehensive resource guide for parents who have a student transitioning to university. The guide is targeted towards first-generation students and their parents. It includes resources such as a calendar that notes the common stressors for each month and information on where to find academic, social, and financial resources. The calendar is designed to help parents feel connected as they gain insight on what students may be experiencing. The guide also includes additional resources that parents can use to understand how they can best support their student and how to navigate the transition from high school to postsecondary.
