UNB, MAHE partner to create new pathway for Indian-trained RNs to work in Canada

The University of New Brunswick recently partnered with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in India to reduce barriers for Indian-trained Registered Nurses to gain employment in New Brunswick. UNB and MAHE will offer a dual degree program to train Registered Nurses for work in NB. MAHE will follow comparable curriculum and supports for writing the NCLEX-RN licensure exam, and Indian students will be able to study in their own country while learning alongside NB students. Since graduates will hold a Canadian degree and credentials, they will be eligible for immediate recruitment by health authorities after they graduate and will have adequate skills when they relocate. “This partnership demonstrates our ability to think outside of the box and find global solutions to support societal challenges facing our home province,” said UNB President Dr Paul J Mazerolle.
