The University of New Brunswick has recently made US politician Doug Mastriano’s doctoral dissertation public. Mastriano, the republican nominee for governor of Pennsylvania, has repeatedly cited the dissertation in his campaign, including to counter criticisms of controversial actions such as dressing up as a confederate soldier. CBC reports that the dissertation was held under an extended embargo and that previous requests to view the dissertation on World War 1 hero Sgt Alvin C York were denied. In a recent statement, UNB stated that it learned that the embargo had been extended past the normal four-year maximum due to a clerical error and took immediate steps to lift the embargo.
