UoGuelph professor creates virtual reality Hamlet experience

University of Guelph assistant professor Dr Peter Kuling has co-designed a virtual reality version of the first scene of Hamlet with SimWave, thanks to a grant from eCampusOntario. According to Kuling, the Hamlet VR Experience helps engage students who do not resonate with Shakespeare on the page or stage by providing an immersive, solo experience. Students are virtually transported to Denmark in the role of Barnardo, a castle guard, who encounters the ghost of Hamlet’s father. “To me it’s about giving students the opportunity to really help them visualize Hamlet,” said Kuling. Kuling’s next project will be recreating the witches of Macbeth in VR. UoGuelph Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
