UWinnipeg cancels English Language Program, women’s soccer team

The University of Winnipeg has discontinued its English Language Program (ELP) and the women’s soccer team, citing “significant financial challenges facing the University.” UWinnipeg President Dr Todd Mondor explained that these cancellations are part of a broader effort to ensure that the institution remains financially stable. Members of the UWinnipeg community have expressed disappointment over the cuts and called attention to their potential impact. “Cancellations reverberate across our campus community,” said UWinnipeg Faculty Association President Peter Miller. “Morale, I think it’s fair to say, is already low given the previous cuts and the ongoing freeze in hiring.”
