NorQuest College and The CommAlert Group have partnered to launch a free, four-month IndTech program for Indigenous youth who are interested in a career in technology. The program teaches technical skills in data processing, data management, software literacy, communications, and teamwork. The program also includes a paid internship, which will allow students to apply the skills and knowledge they have learned in the classroom. “There is a huge under-representation of Indigenous people in our industry,” said CommAlert President Tim Carwell. “We know that with the right support, we can help remove any barriers to employment for Indigenous youth and help employers fill those worker shortages.” NorQuest also recently received a $150K grant from TD Bank Group to support Career Connect, a program that supports mid-career workers in their transition to new opportunities.
