Shanghai Rankings feature Canadian universities among leaders

Shanghai Ranking has released its Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, and Canadian postsecondary institutions appeared prominently in the leading ranks for several subjects. The ranking evaluates 5,000 universities from around the world for their performance in 54 subjects. Several subjects saw Canadian postsecondary institutions rank among the top institutions. University of Toronto placed highly in numerous subjects, including in Sociology (#4), Medical Technology (#6), and Psychology (#7). University of British Columbia appeared among the top institutions in subjects such as Geography (#11) and Transportation Science & Technology (#17); the University of Waterloo ranked in Telecommunication Engineering (#11), Environmental Sciences & Engineering (#12), and Electrical & Electronic Engineering (#18); and Université de Montreal in Management (#15) and Library & Information Science (#18). Other institutions to appear in the rankings included University of Alberta for Environmental Sciences & Engineering (#11), Western University for Civil Engineering (#18), and University of Guelph for Veterinary Sciences (#17).
