Western University has implemented a new program that will enable registered practical nurses to gain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 19 months. Western has increased the number of spots in a pre-existing compressed timeframe (CTF) BScN program and has created a new RPN to BScN pathway within the CTF program. The new program provides Fanshawe College’s RPN program graduates with a pathway to gain a BScN without needing to participate in a typical three to five-year bridging program. It will include an immersive practice placement model that pairs students with nurse preceptors so that they can gain experience as part of a team as well as hands-on learning experiences outside of traditional clinical placements.
