The Mastercard Foundation has launched the Mastercard Foundation Fellows Program with a 10-year, $130M investment. The program aims to help more than 1,000 First Nations, Métis, and Inuit youth strengthen their leadership skills. The Gabriel Dumont Institute and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies will serve as the first host organizations and will work with an inaugural group of 25 Fellows. Each Fellow will receive mentorship and coaching and up to $50K in funding to support their learning goals. Instead of following a standard course, they will identify the cultural learning, education, professional development, or other supports they need. According to Net News Ledger, the learnings from the first cohort will guide a national expansion with more Indigenous-led host organizations.
