The Government of Canada and the Government of the Northwest Territories have invested $51.2M over seven years into initiatives that will improve access to quality health care. On the front of training and professional development, the investment will support NWT’s collaborative health services human resource plan in growing the territory’s health workforce. NWT will use part of the investment to support the Family Medicine Residency Program—a two-year program with two training slots for Canadian Medical Graduates each year—and specialized training in cultural safety and anti-Indigenous racism.
