Cape Breton University is collaborating with the Urban Neighbourhood Development Association to develop 430 residential units on CBU’s Tartan Downs site. The 9.7-hectare site, which is owned by CBU, is currently home to a defunct horse racing track. It will be developed in stages to create a neighbourhood comprised of single-family homes, townhouses, apartment blocks, and commercial spaces. Housing will be a mix of affordable units and rentals. The development aims to address the student enrolment increase as well as the region’s housing shortage. CBC Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
