The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has made a major investment into research and innovation through the Major Science Initiatives Fund. CFI has invested over $628M into 19 research infrastructure projects and facility operations and maintenance. Funding will support a variety of projects and facilities, including the Advanced Laser Light Source project at the Université du Québec – Institut national de la recherche scientifique, the Canadian Cancer Trials Group Operations and Statistics Centre at Queen’s University, the Université de Montréal’s Coalition Publica initiative, and the University of Victoria’s Ocean Networks Canada. “We’re making sure that Canada is equipped to support the next generation of researchers who will tackle the world’s most pressing issues and who will advance our society for all to thrive,” said Federal Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry François-Philippe Champagne.
