GDI DTI, Métis Local 160 partner on training course

The Gabriel Dumont Institute’s Dumont Technical Institute (DTI) recently partnered with two community partners to provide skills training. DTI and the New Southern Plains Métis Local #160 collaborated to offer members a multisector ticket training course. Students learned how to safely operate powered mobile equipment and received training in standard first aid, CPR, WHMIS, and more. “The goal of any DTI program … is to promote the renewal and development of Métis people through training that leads to employment,” said DTI Program Coordinator Daniel Downs. DTI also recently finalized a partnership with Saskatchewan Rivers School Division to provide additional supports for students seeking Adult Basic Education. Education director Robert Bratvold noted that the partnership would particularly help those students aged 18 and older looking to complete essential education.
