This Thanksgiving season, several institutions hosted food-focused initiatives supporting their communities. At the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, culinary students worked together to provide Thanksgiving dinner to approximately 700 patrons of Boyle Street Community Services. Meanwhile, Durham College student newspaper The Chronicle highlighted community supports students facing food security, including the college’s food bursary, the Durham College Student Association’s food bank. The Fondation du Cégep de Sept-Îles also pointed to its fridge and community pantry, which is supported by a three-year partnership with the Port of Sept-Îles. At St Clair College, students gave professors whipped cream pies to the face as a part of their Pie Your Prof event, raising funds for children from low-income families.
