Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s proposal for the development of a new student housing building has received approval from the Surrey City Council. This eight-storey building will include 201 units with a total of 359 beds, a cafeteria, and a dining hall. It will provide students with affordable housing that is at least 10% below market rate, and will focus on prioritizing access for students who face barriers to securing housing, including students with disabilities, Indigenous students, and former youth in care. “It addresses the need for safe, secure and affordable housing for students attending KPU,” said KPU Director of Planning, Development and Sustainability Chani Joseph. “Living on campus will help students stay connected to their studies, peers and support services.”
