Niagara officially opens new greenhouse

Niagara College has officially opened its newest research facility: the $12M Horticultural and Environmental Sciences Innovation Centre (HESIC) Greenhouse. This greenhouse replicates a professional growing environment, providing researchers spaces to test practices and provide data that will inform growers. It includes five individually contained bays with separate control over growing conditions, advanced hydroponic setups, and a vertical grow room. The new facility expands HESIC’s ability to complete additional research projects, serve businesses, and hire students. It will also offer Niagara’s School of Environment and Horticulture students opportunities to work on projects with Research and Innovation.
