Northern Lakes College and the University of Calgary Werklund School of Education have renewed their Bachelor of Education transfer agreement for another five-year term. The agreement enables NLC students to complete all of their program requirements—except for a two-week residency at the university each year—through online courses with the college. Northern Lakes Dean Dr Michelle Mithcell stated that the partnership has made a “considerable difference” in addressing the ongoing teacher shortage: “It seems the further north you go, the harder it is to recruit, so having a pool of teachers that are local is a game changer.”
