The Government of Ontario has announced an investment of $575K to support veterans in transforming their military experience into postsecondary credits. Through the investment, the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer has launched Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) projects at six institutions in the province: Canadore College, Fanshawe College, Georgian College, Lakehead University, the University of Waterloo, and the University of Windsor. Projects include recognizing armed forces experience as credits towards a Bachelor of Engineering, developing a platform to help administrators identify course equivalencies based on military experience, creating a list of eligible course credits so veterans can quickly identify their postsecondary options, and standardizing PLAR options for military experience.
