UCalgary residences at capacity, student union issues call to homeowners to rent to students

Students in Calgary are struggling to find accommodation as the University of Calgary’s residences reach their capacity for the 2022-2023 academic year, reports CBC. UCalgary has confirmed that its 10 residences are full and 545 students have been waitlisted. The university is communicating with those on the waitlists to help them find alternative accommodations. The University of Calgary Students’ Union has put out a call for Calgarians to consider renting rooms or suites to students, as housing, especially around the school, has become scarce. The students’ union will be waiving fees for landlords to post rental housing on its housing board this summer in order to encourage more listings.
