UManitoba extends indoor mask mandate

The University of Manitoba has announced that it will be extending its indoor mask mandate in order to limit the circulation of COVID-19 and other viruses on campus. UManitoba made the decision after consulting with public health experts and the university’s broader community, noting that it supports a safe in-person environment. “Though we know a mask mandate can’t continue indefinitely, we also know that COVID and other respiratory infection cases are high and putting significant strain on our health-care system,” wrote UManitoba President Michael Benarroch. “Masks are among the most effective public health tools to reduce transmission, and use is far greater when supported by a mandate.” Winnipeg Free Press| CBC Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
