The Government of Québec has announced its intention to rename the Cégep régional de Lanaudière in honour of sociologist Guy Rocher. Fédération des cégeps présidente Marie Montpetit welcomed the move, which she said honoured Rocher’s status as the father of the cégeps. Cégep régional de Lanaudière directrice générale Geneviève Perreault echoed Montpetit, adding that the naming was both a privilege and responsibility for the cégep. QC will continue to formalize the proposed name change in the coming months.
