Statistics Canada has released a study examining young Canadians’ experiences in the labour market. The study draws on the annual Labour Force Survey to examine how Canadians aged 25 to 34 who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and are no longer in school are faring in the labour market. Data showed that 69% of this group were working in permanent, full-time positions, which is a slight decline from the peak of 71% in 2022 but higher than the recent pre-pandemic average of 65%. This group earned $39.18 per hour on average, continuing to surpass those in the trades or with a college diploma. The study concludes that while the quality of employment among this group has remained relatively stable in recent years, gaps exist when comparing men and women or parents and non-parents.
