Athabasca University, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and the Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) have collaborated to expand accessibility certification training for those working in architecture. RAIC community members will now be able to access Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC), which is delivered online in partnership with AU’s PowerED. Those who complete the training will be able to rate sites based on the RHFAC rating system for accessibility. The course includes content such as virtual fieldwork, assessment tools, and peer discussions, and graduates will be eligible to write an exam to become a designated RHFAC Professional. “It is our responsibility to build and design with accessibility and inclusivity as an underpinning value and principle,” said RAIC President John Brown.
