AU signs funding agreement with AB

Athabasca University has signed a funding agreement with the Government of Alberta that will see an increase to the number of employees living and working full-time in Athabasca, AB. The deal was made after the Government of Alberta announced that it would be tying AU’s operating funding to increases in the number of AU employees living in the town. Over the next three years, AU will increase the number of local employees from 252 to 277 and four of the university’s nine executive members will be expected to be based in the town. “This new agreement will ensure Athabasca University continues to drive economic growth in the region while remaining a leader in distanced-learning not only in Canada but across the world,” said AU Board Chair Byron Nelson.
