Bishop’s receives $2M donation for English Quebec Studies research chair

News

Bishop’s University will receive an estimated $2M from the estate of English-language community advocate Marjorie Elizabeth Goodfellow. In recognition of the donation, Bishop’s will create the Marjorie Elizabeth Goodfellow Chair in English Quebec Studies, which will support research, teaching, and public engagement on English-speaking communities in the province. To these ends, the chair will collaborate with English-speaking organizations, cultural institutions, and communities to gain insight into the lived experience of English-speaking communities in the province. Bishop’s VP Academic and Research Dr Kerry Hull explained that the chair “will create a privileged space for dialogue that brings together faculty, students, and community partners, fostering rich interdisciplinary exchange.”
