Campus food resources experience sharp increase in users, organizations call for more assistance

Campus food resources on several campuses have reported a sharp increase in the number of students using them. Institutions and their student unions have launched a wide variety of new food programs – from affordable fresh fruit and vegetable boxes to care cupboards to pay-what-you-can markets – to address student food insecurity and reduce stigma around accessing food support. Food support that is offered often goes quickly, and organizations and student unions are calling for more support and resources so that students do not go hungry.
