Several new initiatives have launched to support students and community members who are experiencing food insecurity or financial struggles during the holiday season. Holland College launched Food for Thought to provide students with free breakfast and snacks. Huntington University, Northern College police foundations students, Queen’s University, and St Clair College’s Music Theatre Club have each taken part in food hampers and donation drives to support the community. Red Deer Polytechnic staff and faculty launched an internal fundraising campaign in support of students and the United Way Central Alberta that involved themed dressing days, a coffee cart, and more.
