CapilanoU begins construction on Centre for Childhood Studies

Capilano University has begun construction on a new Centre for Childhood Studies. The centre will add childcare capacity for students, employees, and the community, and act as a learning hub where students can complete their practicum education. It will almost double CapilanoU’s on-campus childcare capacity by introducing an additional 74 childcare spaces, and will include a purpose-built studio space, study and research labs, classrooms, study areas, and more. The centre will also provide a consolidated space for the School of Education and Childhood Studies, which currently is spread over three buildings, and will enable the school to expand its offerings by 25%. The university’s existing Children’s Centre also recently became a $10 a Day ChildCareBC centre, a move that increases equity and access to quality childcare at the university.
