The Canadian Association of University Teachers has issued its submission to the 2026 federal pre-budget consultations. The submission includes eight recommendations that touch on matters such as increasing investment and coordination, expanding supports for students, and creating a postsecondary education and research secretariat within the federal government. “CAUT urges the federal government to take targeted action in Budget 2026 to stabilize and strengthen Canada’s public postsecondary education, research, and training,” states the organization. “These recommendations will assist in addressing pressing issues facing Canadians and accelerate research that will deliver economic, societal, and health benefits.”
