CBU faculty association votes in favour of strike mandate

The faculty association at Cape Breton University has voted in favour of a strike mandate, with 92% of members voting in favour of labour action. The move was reportedly made in response to a lack of progress on negotiations toward an agreement over the summer. The faculty association says that other issues include resistance to discussing or providing language, a proposal from CBU that would increase workloads of some members and limit their research ability, and continuing negotiations while grievances and arbitrations are underway.
