CIRA awards $1.25M for digital equity initiatives

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) has announced the recipients of its $1.25M Community Investment Program initiative. The projects supported by the funding are focused on topics such as reliable online connectivity for Indigenous communities, addressing cyber-safety and cybersecurity, and the safe use of broadband technology. Postsecondary institutions that will benefit from the funding include Portage College, Simon Fraser University, Brock University, and McGill University. “As the lasting effects of the global pandemic have changed the way we all work and live, there is no question that funding projects that address digital equity is essential,” said CIRA president Byron Holland.
