Effectively accessing, leveraging data for continuing education: Opinion

Evan Cortens, Dean of Continuing Education and Extension at Mount Royal University, recently spoke to Modern Campus about accessing and leveraging data for decision-making in continuing education. In this interview, Cortens touches on the importance of finding and gaining access to the right data and highlights how this data can be used to better understand the community, the context they live and work in, and the effectiveness of the courses and programs they take part in. He reminds listeners of the importance of asking the right questions, emphasizing that “data is not going to make the decision for you.” Cortens concludes by discussing trends like AI, the move to cloud-based systems, and micro-credentialling.
