Emergency alert issued at UCalgary after call reporting assailant with knife

The University of Calgary issued an emergency alert after an emergency call reporting a man armed with a knife on campus. The university issued a shelter-in-place alert warning that an “active assailant” was on the main campus. The alert was lifted at 9:30 PM, after police confirmed that the suspect was no longer on campus. CTV News reports that police found no sign of a man with a knife and that there were no additional witnesses or security footage of a suspect. Calgary Police Service said that the report may have been a misunderstanding, and has ended investigation into the matter.
