Five Canadian universities appear in top 100 of ShanghaiRanking’s 2022 ARWU rankings

ShanghaiRanking has released the 2022 edition of its Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), which assesses over 2,500 universities from around the world based on six indicators and lists the top 1,000. 26 Canadian institutions appeared in the 2022 ARWU rankings, with five appearing in the top 100. The leading institutions from Canada were the University of Toronto (#22), University of British Columbia (#44), McGill University (#73), McMaster University (#90), and the University of Alberta (#92). The three leading institutions internationally were Harvard University, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
