Centennial College, Durham College, Georgian College, Humber Polytechnic, and Ontario Tech University have signed an MOU to create a consortium on clean energy workforce development. The Canadian Clean Energy Workforce Consortium will be guided by an industry advisory council and will support training and upskilling in several areas relevant to clean energy development including skilled trades, nuclear operations, and renewable energy systems. Representatives from the institutions highlighted the need for a coordinated and industry-aligned approach to training in the sector, saying that the consortium positions Canada for a clean energy future. The consortium plans to expand to other institutions outside of Ontario, as well as supporting workforce training programs in countries like Indonesia and the Philippines.
