Fleming College has announced that it will offer three new intakes of its SkillsAdvance Ontario – Forestry program. The program is offered in collaboration with Algonquin College and aims to prepare workers who are currently under- or unemployed for entry-level jobs in the forestry sector. Students will learn a variety of soft and hard skills, such as forest measurement, navigation and inventory, health and safety, and lumber grading. They will also have access to supports as they search for a job in the industry. The program takes four weeks to complete, and is free for job seekers. Fleming says it is aiming to train 150 job seekers to work in the forestry industry in the eastern Ontario region.
