Fleming, Ontario Tech, Horizon Aircraft partner on aviation research project

Fleming College, Ontario Tech University, and Horizon Aircraft have partnered on an aviation research project to design and prototype mechanisms for Horizon’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The three-year partnership will see Fleming and Ontario Tech supporting in areas such as additive manufacturing topology optimization, modelling, and prototyping. The institutions have been jointly awarded $750K from NSERC’s Innovation Link program for the project. Fleming’s Centre for Advancement in Mechatronics and Industrial Internet of Things (CAMIIT) director Dr Fereydoon Diba will lead the project, and Ontario Tech’s Machine Research Laboratory and Advanced Digital Metrology Laboratories will provide expertise in areas such as design, optimization, manufacturing, and materials.
