Georgian receives $1.5M to establish endowed bursary fund for honours nursing program

Georgian College has received $1.5M from the Joyce Family Foundation to establish an endowment that will provide bursaries for students in the Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing program. The gift is the largest in Georgian’s history. The renewable bursaries will go to first-year students who have financial need and who have overcome significant challenges to pursue their education. “The need for nurses in our communities is acute and this very generous and transformational investment will go a long way to ensuring that financial need is not a barrier for any future nurses who study in our new degree program,” said Georgian President Dr MaryLynn West-Moynes. West-Moynes told CTV News that applications for the program are “surging” due to the pandemic. Georgian| CTV News Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
