As Generation Alpha currently makes their way through preschool to high school, EdTech reporter Tara E Buck investigates how they might interact with technology upon entering postsecondary education. Buck interviewed Kevin Dowlin (Rutgers University–Newark) who emphasized the importance of helping Generation Alpha to strengthen their digital fluency. “They use technology, and they move through technology all the time, but they don’t understand it at all,” said Dowlin. Ultimately, Dowlin concludes that pedagogical shifts must happen to keep Gen Alpha engaged with their learning, and institutions should strive to find the best blend of tools to give a learners a quality experience.
