In a recent article for The evoLLLution, Vis Naidoo (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) discusses how institutions can use microcredentials to address the need for sustained productivity and competitiveness in Alberta, as well as in Canada more broadly. Naidoo offers an overview of the frameworks and policies surrounding microcredentials in Alberta, before explaining how these short credentials can contribute to productivity and respond to the need for just-in-time training. The author concludes by outlining next steps for the Government of Alberta Ministry of Advanced Education, postsecondary institutions, and employers.
