Keyano College has introduced a refreshed brand identity that is inspired by the college’s location and context. The brand is grounded in the meaning of Keyano—“sharing,” in Cree—and intended to reflect the college’s connection to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It draws on a visual identity with new typography and a new colour palette. “This evolution reflects a renewed focus on how we show up for our region and the people we serve,” said Keyano Associate Vice President, Public Engagement Chantal Beaver. “Our brand tells a story of connection, stewardship, and shared progress. It captures who we are as a community and how we continue to create opportunities for learning, growth, and future success.”

Polytechnics Canada Policy Analyst Hannah Hunter argues that Canada must address the barriers to apprenticeship completion if the country is to retain apprentices in the skilled trades. Hunter explains that many government officials tout the career opportunities available in the skilled trades, but that training timelines and completion present a barrier to these careers. She writes that apprentices may encounter personal and financial challenges that affect their progression and often face delays with accessing in-class training, due to limited space, equipment, and instructors. If these issues are left unresolved, Hunter concludes that “Ottawa’s ambitions to Build Canada Strong — however well intentioned — will fall flat.”
