Keyano College has established an Indigenous Advisory Circle to advance reconciliation, enhance accessibility, and promote a culturally responsive learning environment. The initiative aims to foster an environment of dialogue between Indigenous communities and Keyano by integrating Indigenous wisdom and kinship into the college’s policy, programming, and cultural practices. Members of the advisory circle include local First Nations and Métis community members, as well as Keyano faculty, staff, and students. In a statement, Keyano said that the advisory circle’s establishment acknowledges Wood Buffalo’s vibrant history, heritage, and culture, and recognizes the importance of integrating these elements into the college.
